I don't know if confidence decoys are for the gunner or the ducks sought; however, they exist and are used in all gunning areas. These may not be desirable or even legal quarry, but are thought to enhance the function of the duck decoys in their purpose. Birds thought of as smart or wary are used as confidence decoys, including seagulls, swans, geese, crows and herons. In an attempt to cover all decoy areas and functions, I have included a section on confidence decoys for consideration.

It may be my desire to expand my horizons that caused this section to be added.
